## 1. Choose one question

- Person whose work we want to understand:
- Specific task and current way of doing it:
- Problem we suspect, clearly labelled as an assumption:
- What we need to learn before building:

## 2. Choose a relevant conversation

Use [LaunchVic's event listings](https://launchvic.org/featured-events/) as a
starting point. Read the organiser's own page to check the actual date,
location or online format, intended audience, cost and booking availability.
Do not assume that an event listing is current or that its attendees are your
customers. LaunchVic's site currently directs readers to Innovation Victoria.

- Event and organiser URL:
- Details checked on this date:
- Audience and reason it fits our question:
- Location/format, accessibility needs, cost and booking status:
- One question to bring:
- Why a direct customer conversation might be more useful instead:

## 3. Learn about the current workflow

Ask about a recent concrete example before suggesting an AI solution.

- What happened the last time the person did the task?
- What steps, tools, delays or errors did they describe?
- What did we actually observe, and what was only reported?
- What evidence contradicts our original assumption?
- What remains unknown, and how could we check it with permission?

Peer enthusiasm and meetup attendance are not evidence of customer demand.
Keep observations, interpretations and proposed changes separate.

## 4. Decide the next small step

- Continue investigating, narrow the problem, test a change or stop:
- Reason and evidence:
- Person responsible and review date:
- Outcome that would make us reconsider:
- Business setup or specialist question to check through an appropriate source:
